Why is there a loss as soon as I open a trade?

The loss you see when you open a position represents the broker’s spread.

The spread is the difference between the BUY and SELL price of an asset. Once the market passes the spread in the direction of your trade, the rest is profit.

When you open a BUY (LONG) position, you will do so at the higher ASK (SELL) price and close it at the lower BID (BUY); alternately, when you open a SELL (SHORT) position, you will be opening at the lower BID price and closing at the ASK price.
